VeriVolt Z32 Compliance System

VeriVolt Z32 Compliance System:

The VeriVolt platform isn’t just about meeting CSA Z32 requirements — it’s about delivering peace of mind. Built around the same principles used to prove the integrity of electrical systems in healthcare environments, VeriVolt sets a new standard for confidence, documentation, and repeatability in electrical testing.

System Components:

The VeriVolt Test System is made up of three parts:

  1. VeriVolt GPR - Control panel which includes onboard high resolution metering, test sequencing, and data averaging. The GPR serves as a standalone polarity and ground path return tester for verifying receptacles in patient care areas once they have been replaced per Z32 requirements.
  2. VeriVolt LB - This is a separate load bank unit which can be connected to the GPR control unit to perform voltage drop tests required for Z32 testing in new builds, renovations, or when circuits in patient care areas have been altered.
  3. Nexus Lite Software  - A cross platform data tracking application designed to enhance speed and accuracy of testing records, while tracking test intervals for Z32 specification recommended routine maintenance checks.

The overall system was designed to accommodate healthcare electrical systems entirely, from routine receptacle swaps, to any scale of new installation or renovations.

System Version History:

Version 1.0

  • Manual test unit
  • Onboard fixed value resistor loads
  • Add-on multimeter data viewing
  • Software creation for data recording
  • Manual data entry
  • Formula scale data values to expected rated amperage values per Z32 standard.

Version 1.1

  • Load bank power port live at all times to allow cooling fans to run independent of test mode selection.
  • Load bank operation only possible if power supplied to load bank for enhanced repeatability of test conditions. (Resistor values vary slightly when heated)

Version 1.2

  • Integrated regulated current control
  • Current scaled to match CSA Z32 80% of rated circuit amperage (12a for 15a circuit, 16a for 20a circuit) Note: function was added, accounting for minor non-linear resistance curves caused by termination points within a typical electrical circuit.
  • Sub-versions (1.2x) transitioned away from fixed resistive loads to active current regulation

Version 1.30

  • Added onboard metering, display and high bitrate data sampling with test automation.
  • Calibration SOP development.
  • Introduction of on-board averaging and test sequence automation.
  • Three test modes with different behaviors to work with different circuits

Version 1.31

  • Field ready platform
  • Minor improvements to onboard metering, results proven to match and exceed reliability of from external metering and manual calculations.
  • Correct polarity is a pre-requisite to run tests.
  • Improved speed of test sequencing and data averaging.
  • Calibration menu to aid in calculating meter calibration values.
  • Swapped to higher frequency sample rate and averaging algorithm for greater RMS accuracy. (Higher bit rate modules were slow.)

Version 1.32

  • Minor improvements to onboard metering and averaging.
  • Integrated wireless based control and data display platform (ongoing, prototype phase).
  • Direct connection data stream, displays test summary after button press (ongoing, prototype phase).

Version 1.33x (Current Version)

  • Minor improvements to metering accuracy and sampling speed.
  • Reduced voltage rise current ramp time.
  • Improved machine control, and test result display.
  • Onboard calibration routine enhancements, optimized for regular equipment function checks.
  • Hardware upgrades including audible feedback, precautionary e-stop button.
  • Minor useability upgrades to app (ongoing).

What's New and Planned for the VeriVolt platform?

The VeriVolt v1.xx and proposed v2.xx are prototypes intended to streamline and enhance the Z32 testing experience when proving integrity of new, existing, or extended electrical system in their healthcare facility:

  • Version 1.3 has become a rapid developing proving ground for automation, data reliability, processing integrating reporting dependencies for the entire VeriVolt Lite platform. Major improvements include greater voltage accuracy, faster test procedures, program reliability, and many other input/output glitch fixes.
  • Firmware and hardware advancements will continue to be tested and deployed on v1.xx platform, with the best advancements serving as a benchmark for future versions.
  • Version 1.4 crowns the v1 series as the original champion of the VeriVolt lineup. With flight-ready mounting, refined fit and finish, and a modernized design, this final evolution galvanizes the v1 legacy as the bulletproof, field-proven foundation upon which all future VeriVolt systems will stand.
